With the guidance and approval of Toronto Public Health, Grandma Betty's Baking is currently a home-based bakery in Toronto's East End. To maintain privacy, we don't share the exact address with customers. 

Yes! Right now we offer delivery in Toronto's East End. The boundaries of our delivery area are:

Kennedy Road to Yonge Street (East to West)

Eglinton Avenue to Lake Ontario (North to South)

Delivery is FREE on all orders over $25. 

Unfortunately, no. Our understanding is that the current zoning by-law does not allow customers to pick up their orders from our location. 

We offer FREE LOCAL DELIVERY on all orders over $25.

In most cases, YES! In fact, the Ontario Ministry of Health published this handy Guide To Starting A Home-Based Food Business back in 2021. 

Shortbread Cookies and most other baked goods are considered to be "low-risk" foods, which means that they can be legally and safely prepared and sold from any home-based kitchen, provided that Toronto Public Health is consulted and all applicable guidelines are followed.

We LOVE this change because we believe in the importance of removing barriers and creating better opportunities for people who are marginalized. The ability to operate a business from home is a critical issue of accessibility and equity for people living with disabilities (visible or invisible), people who are unable to afford to lease commercial spaces, and people who are denied access to small business loans and other financing. 

As we mentioned above, we take food safety seriously. Samantha has worked diligently to ensure that the Grandma Betty's kitchen meets or exceeds all of the requirements outlined by our municipal, provincial, and federal governments. 

Yes. We passed our most recent inspection and we are looking forward to the next one!

Toronto Public Health only recently began granting formal inspections to home-based bakers, and they do not currently include us in their online directory.

Absolutely! It would be a dream-come-true to open a storefront location, and Samantha is working hard to make that happen as soon as possible. Every time you order Grandma Betty's shortbread cookies, tell your friends about us, or engage with us on social media, you are helping this little business grow and getting us closer to that goal! Our Classic, Lemon, Earl Grey, and Holiday Gems shortbread cookies contain only 5g of carbs and only 2 to 3 grams of sugar per cookie. As long as you're enjoying them in moderation, they can be included in most diets!

We would love to be able to offer Vegan AND Gluten-free options as soon it's possible for us to do it safely and with no risk of cross-contamination. Right now our kitchen space is too small and we can't afford the extra set of baking equipment that we would need. This is definitely on our list of future goals, so please stay tuned!
